Tiruchirappalli International Airport

The Tiruchirappalli airport is operated by Airways Authority of India. The airport is located on the National Highway 210 that connects Tiruchirappalli and Rameswaram. It is just 5 km from the heart of the city. The airport was established during the World War II by the British as a means of air transport junction to repair damaged flights during the war.

The Tiruchirappalli airport started functioning during late 1940’s and it was mostly operated as Customs airport before getting declared as International Airport in October 2012. The airport can be easily accessed through city buses, taxis and auto rickshaws.

The Tiruchirappalli Airport contains two terminals, one being Integrated International  terminal used for both domestic and international flights and second one being the old terminal now serving as International Cargo Complex. The Integrated Terminal has a capacity to accommodate 200 flights for arrival and departure. There are 5 boarding gates available. The integrated terminal is expanded over 11,700 Sq meters.

The Cargo terminal is owned, managed and operated by Airport Authority of India (AAI). It is accessible to process and clear Export, Transhipment and Import of cargos with one time holding capacity of 250 MT. There are separate Customs available along with IATA Agents and customs licensed clearing agents.
